Yes, I know what you mean.
So, the outer edge of my roof is 3 inches high & the inner edge that buts up to the lamp housing is 5 inches high, so 2 inches higher to create the slope.
This is in line with the Hudolin prop plans, but, TBH, if I was to make another one, I'd probably make the inner part another inch higher, so the slope angle is a little more pronounced, as I think the angle is a little too shallow & the water does still tend to pool on the roof a little sometimes.

Hope that helps.

Thanks, Russell, the information you provided was helpful.
I will take your advice and go for an extra inch.
The photo shows the framework, I will need to purchase ply for the base and work from there. I have purchased bitumen black paint and primer along with filler.
I have also bought geo textile for any seems and caps. This will be coated on with the primer then the bitcuman paint over the top.
I will also take your advice and make tenplates for the triangle ply.

Another question Russell.
How did you go about finding the exact middle to put the block for the light to sit on, and did you manage to screw it down. Did you have any difficulty with that.

Actually it was pretty easy finding the center of the roof.
Because I built my roof on a flat sheet of ply, I just drew a line from corner to corner of the sheet, dissecting the center & that gave me my central spot.
Fixing the lamp, I just glued, then tacked it into place.
Believe me, once a few layers of filler, then bitumen paint, then blue gloss have been slapped over the top- It's going nowhere!!

Hope that helps.

Hi Russel.
Thanks for the information.
Can I ask what product of wood filler did you use?
I am looking for something water-resistant and easy to paint over.
Any advice will be appreciated.
Thanks Stephen.

Well, as a notorious cheapskate on a mission to create the cheapest build I could, I actually got all my filler and sealent from the pound shop.
Didn't even worry about the brand, I just got whatever they had in at any time.
I figured if you slap enough paint over the top it won't matter anyway!
Btw.. This probably isn't the solution I'd advise unless you are on a tight budget!
Cheers.

Gone against advice for a sloped roof.
I feel I can keep the water out by applying a few coats of rubber paint and a good filler. the filler is waterproof, so it should keep out water.

I have split the roof into pieces of ply. once done, the light will go on.

Finally, the roof is on.
Light to go on, then finish.

Roof on and made watertight.
