Whilst rummaging around for some McCoy-era pics on Yahoo, I came upon these.

(Don't click on the link.  For some reason it cuts out just before the "@" - copy the whole line into your browser)

Is this person a member of this forum?  Because these are incredibly detailed, to the point of obsession.

He used to be.  He's been gone for a while now.  Sometimes you see his models on eBay.

13 if you count the downside, and let's face it there's always a downside...

Pardon me, I made a mistake - it's eight sides.  I forgot inside and outside too....  ;D
My pilot's license? That's out back in the Cessna. Or perhaps you're referring to my license to kill. Revoked. Trouble at the Kazakhstan border.

I could give you the details but then I'd have to kill you, which I can't do because my license to kill has been revoked.

A box does have six sides... doesn't it?   :o  Top side, bottom side, front side, left side, right side, back side....

Cheeky monkey!   ;D

Unfortunately I found the whole experience of building rather interminable and all-consuming and I don't think I could face doing another one for some time :)

For me, cutting out the all the panels and forming the 8 window frames is the worst part of the whole process.  Luckily for me I have the ability to completely switch off whilst doing it.  So long as nothing distracts me (TV on, kids shouting), I can single-mindedly plough through for an hour or two without noticing the passage of time.

I think this is because it's the only part of a build where you have to do the most work without any appreciable sign of progress on the model.  Once you get the initial 6-sided box completed, each subsequent bit of cutting you do results in a change to the model, so you finally get the feeling you're going somewhere!

Of course the "blue paint" part is by far the best (immediately preceded by the "completed white box" part, which is second best!). ;D

I bet its similar for full-size builds too.

My plans are thus: work out how many how big a TARDIS would have to be to take 3  years of DVD's... assume that to be the average length of time we have a doctor for (twice that (ish) for Tom) and make the appropriate TARDIS for those DVD's.

Then if I ever own a house big enough, I'd have a TYJ as the entrance to my own TARDIS interior (Crispin must be inspiring so many dreams like this) and then one Brachacki for just sitting outside in the garden :)

No prizes for guessing which of the 2 paragraphs is more likely to actually happen :P

He's certainly made me consider making a larger scale model.  Unfortunately what I've found with this game is that although I enjoy having a finished model to look at, I actually enjoy the process of building one a lot more.  And you can't keep building them, because what do you do with them afterwards?  Stick them on eBay and get sued by the Beeb? Not to mention (presumably) getting kicked off this board!

Having just finished my 5th model, I now no longer have any shelf space to put any more on!
