Those cuts are amazing!
Granddad has a very sharp saw blade.  ;D

And a very sharp eye - unlike my stanky old wizzard eyes. (But then, it was back in 1988 when they told me "You have eyes like that of a 65-year-old; you've got 'old eyes'." Now add another 28 years to that and... Frack! Let's just leave it at that.)

But if I haven't done it before now, I think it's time to show my Envy(small).jpg for the great help you've got building this Old Girl, and how well she's coming along. She's looking fantastic!

Day 22

The roof has now been given 2 undercoats.

And now the roof has been placed on top of the rest of the TARDIS. Though right now, the supports that keep it up there are still being constructed. Hopefully there won't be a huge gust of wind that blows the roof off.

Here's a shot from far away.

Well, that may not be all for now.

Your granddad is a carpentry wizard! That roof looked seamless before it was painted. Now it looks like it was moulded from one piece of something. Spectacular! It's people like you, and about the other 381 "active" members if this Forum, that really make me want to get out and build my TARDIS - even though my back might have problems with that. (Heck, I started "building" my Old Girl back in 1983 when I got that Fresnel lens for the roof lamp, and then got some door handles with help from friends across the pond a few years ago, right before I got hurt. I've been "building" very slowly now... going for 33 years. It's about time I got more of a move on, and people like you make me want to, as the saying goes: "Get on with it!")

Amazing work, LMC! Battle on, my friend!

Thank you so much. When I saw the roof fully undercoated, I said to my granddad that is looks like it was carved out of one single big piece of wood (or plastic. It sure does look like another material with the undercoat on it.). Indeed we are getting on with it. The second wall is near to being complete. Then we will start work on the doors.

Funny you should mention that. When I first saw it with the undercoat, I thought it looked like it had been formed from ABS plastic, like the kind they use for custom car parts (like spoilers, bonnet scoops, other assorted exterior add-ons).

Well... erm... just to clarify, that comment of "Get on with it!" was directed at the goofball I saw in my mirror. He's the only one I know of that's going into his 34th year of trying to built a TARDIS! ;D

I think we're all looking forward to that. (And if everything goes together white, be prepared for some "The Mind Robber" comments on a white TARDIS. ;) :D)

This is looking great. You're inspiring my son and I who will be starting our project when we're back from our holiday in Dallas. I notice you're using a Titan bench saw. How have you found it? Would you recommend them?

I wish you luck for your future project. We are using a Titan bench saw. I ask my granddad as he uses it more and he said that he would recommend it as it does get the job done.

Thanks you all for your comments  :)

Day 24 Continued

Right, last update I didn't say anything as I was in a rush. All the side pieces for the door and wall have been cut. So far, they have been attached to one wall.
IMGP0255.JPGIMGP0256.JPGIMGP0257.JPGIMGP0258.JPGIMGP0259.JPG

Well, maybe on next day both walls will be complete. Then we can finally start making the door.

That's all for now.
