I posted a few months ago but my account went inactive so I thought I would recreate my account and post my build here. This is a tardis build modeled after the 2010 TARDIS but with some slight variations for electronics and for physical abuse as it was expected to get some traffic at a comic shop. The builders, My friend Fred and myself have little experience building wood projects this big so please be gentle with the comments but I know we tried to stay as true to the 2010 model as possible. We are currently finish with the construction and are just doing minor finishes and cosmetic items.

Some stats:

Over 9' tall and the base is 4'6" sq
Weighs over 350lb
Has full remote capabilities for the lights and sound circuit as well as door opening
Construction was 3 months with a 1 month hiatus while I went to England.

I am planning on building another TARDIS here in a few months that can be broken down and packed so it can be taken to conventions and I am hoping to start on a Dalek and K9 unit soon.

Thanks for your interest and I look forward to the feedback.

PS. I ave entered my tardis in the Whereisthetardis contest. Feel free to look and vote or enter your own TARDIS.

Well Done, It's a beauty, it has the look and style of the New Series Tardis but more The Dimensions of the Tom Baker 'Newberry' Police Box,. A really good looking Hybrid!

Not a bad effort at all. Just one thing though, and please don't be offended by this. But the colour looks closer to the '05 Tardis which didn't have the St Johns badge, and the '10 model has white window frames. However it's still a nice looking Tardis.
Farewell Sarah Jane, you will be missed.

I think the color looks like the '10 than '05, although some of the pics are a bit grainy....

You my friend are correct on both points... The window frames are white in 10 and when we painted them white, we felt it was to much with the lighted acrylic windows so we went to blue. As for the paint... we did not paint the box... we stained it and the only stain that was available in any hardware store was a Benjamin Moore Blue Stain. We felt the grain of the wood was more of a detail then the color being exact. There was a guy who was able to get the grain and the right blue for the 2010 Tardis on here but I think the cost of the paint (automotive paint) was like 130.00 a gallon... I can not do that.

We tried to go for the best details in 2010 but there are a few that we went on our own path... I think we are calling this TARDIS the 2012 model :)

I'm not offended... I am glad you brought these points up. Thank you.

Ouch, I wouldn't be keen on forking out that much for paint either. The construction of your Tardis looks great, and nothing wrong with putting your own mark on it rather than obsessing over being exact in every detail.

And I love it when people do the nonchalant leany-against-the-Tardis photo  ;D
