The Box on Thornton Heath Pond verge - Z28

A couple of photos from circa 1958 --

Here's a blowup of the Box --

It's impossible to get a matching street view due to the angle the originals were taken and all the trees now on the Pond verge; however, here is a street view of the distinctive buildings on the right of the photos --

Here is a view of the Box Site --

Ok I'm trying to keep my New Year's Resolution going........For the next few months I'll upload some Hi-Def Versions of photographs we already have on here (That still counts!)
Here's good old Z28 Thornton Heath Pond (Hi-Def) (c1960)
Boy doesn't it look like a scaled down prop model with a very slanting roof?  ::)

This has to be my favourite, mainly because I remember, as a child, playing in that area.
The square areas of foliage grew up very quickly, making it impossible to see around them, and although squares, they became a like a maze, and once in the middle, it was "Hunt the TARDIS" time.
AS for a model, yes, in this, which I think is the only picture of it, it looks very much like "Dinky" Mk I set up police box.

Happy memories (Unlike last week :( ) :)

So near, yet so far
The box would be below the two chimneys on the sloping roof, but alas, behind the public conveniences, still, I thought it was an interesting picture

Oh, I can't tell you how many times I've seen a photo and realized there's a Box just a few feet out of frame, or behind a bus, or knowing that the photographer is standing right next to one. Sigh.

It is indeed a great shot, regardless.
