Next batch of pictures... I moved a lot of the stuff down (and of course had to fix the length on some of the rods...) Some interesting angles perhaps, that you might not normally see it from (not that there's an abunance of clear photos ;))

Now, I suppose I should enlarge the basket wires next... Any other comments?

EDIT: I might move the items back up by half an inch... 3 inches seems a bit much now that I look again (2 looked too little at the time).

More superb renders, well done! I think you are right about that depth, 2" seems much more like it. Incidentally, what software are you using to produce these? Keep up the good work, this is turning into an essential resource. Thanks again.

Edit: More carping. The top of the lights seem only to go as high as the inner ring (on the original). Are they a bit too long? Also re the basket; the top rim of the thing seems to be an inverted L section and the spokes seem to be only semi circular in section with the flat side facing out. Furthermore it seems to have a flat disk base. And is it sitting on top of a short perspex cylinder of the same diameter? One more thing, that cube atop the dumbells, does it have a semi circular notch at its base so that it slots onto the rod? I'm not sure about any of this, just a few thoughts really. You're the one doing the hard work so there are probably considerations that haven't occured to me.
One more question are you going to look at the markings on the rulers, mesh and flag structure when the rest is resolved. Sorry to go on but I love this project you are doing, it's a gem! Cheers.

Hmmm you've mentioned quite a lot more than I had thought of! :)

I'm using Maya 7, and one of the problems I'm having with it (that I haven't had on previous versions) is that when I apply a texture to an object, its also automatically using it as a transparency map too for some reason. The upshot is that the object becomes translucent! So thats why I've not attempted to anything more than shading, reflectivity and transparency at the moment cos the images are proving problematic. :)

This is definitely looking good. When it's done I'd like to draw up some plans from the measurements you/we end up with.
I'm already wondering how to make that basket at the bottom - unless such a basket is commercially available...

Hi Rassilon,

On the second episode of AUC the ladder struture is plainly visible as it turns through 360 degrees in quite a few shots. It would appear to be long cresent shaped pieces but solid in cross section or closed at the ends.

Hanging basket or collander.  i remember one of the Troughton stories showed it clearly (don't ask me which one) and I remember thinking it was a collander in the TARDIS console!!

I thought something to do with laundry or drainage but yes, a hanging basket is a very good answer. Goes well with the sink plungers on Daleks and children's punched-plastic balls on Cybermen.

There's a nice clear picture of the console with the Doctor and Susan and Ian and Barbara on about page 8 of the Dr Who Monster Book. You can clearly see the seam but no rivets.
