Hi all,
For those who watch Sarah Jane, and without giving away too much of the plot, there was a Police Box in part 2 of "The Temptation of Sarah Jane Smith".  It wasn't one of the New series Props, but appeared to be something else.  Did anyone see it... or know where it's from?  Was it built specially for the episode, or was it an existing box?  Figured this place would be buzzing about this :)

Interesting wasn't it? It was a poor representation of a Police Box or TARDIS in my view, though close enough to fool the casual viewer and yet different nough from the (currnet) TARDIS Prop for expert eyes to quickly see what was coming up.  It looked to me as if they found a pantomime quality prop and redressed it a little (windows, signs) to be New Series-esque.  I was going to dismiss it out of hand as a quick bodge for the show but did you notice that the windows were bevelled and made of timber?     Interesting - I wonder if anyone here knows more about it (and forgive me if I've just said anything rude about your baby, it's not personal!!!)

Is it just my eyes? It looks like a toy... Only very large! :o
In the cities in the streets there's a tension you can feel,
The breaking strain is fast approaching, guns and riots.
Politicians gamble and lie to save their skins,
And the press get fed the scapegoats,
Public Enema Number One.

If it was a toy, it'd have it's own bobbie.

BTW, I think we could classify this as a regional variant of the Police Box.

I'm sure I had a ceramic money box that looked like that when I was a kid!
My pilot's license? That's out back in the Cessna. Or perhaps you're referring to my license to kill. Revoked. Trouble at the Kazakhstan border.

I could give you the details but then I'd have to kill you, which I can't do because my license to kill has been revoked.

Glen thanks very much for sharing the pictures with us. This tardis to me seems to be a cross between the season 18 and new series tardis.

Looks like a redressed/revamped Weird and Wonderful box, as used in the Tom Baker This Is Your Life, Heartbeat, and This Morning.  New huge plinth signs, and new door sigh, but the double step base and the doors give it away.

I went to weirdandwonderful.com and saw this box:

It appears not to be the same box used in SJA.  The panels are huge on this prop, whereas on the SJA prop, they are more proportionate.  But I swear I've seen this box before.  I shall do some more digging.

I think I've found the one.  It's a CBBC prop that's been used before in kids' shows - most notably when it got "pimped" by a buffoon in a sketch.  The doors, windows and plinth signs are all much the same in the  sketch, but the roof seels to have been altered slightly since.

The (oh, so hilarious, watch my sides so completely fail to split) clip of the berk playing the Doctor and the berk playing Westwood is at:

And when did Kenneth Williams play the Doctor?   :o

And yes, my sides did split with the hilarity of it all...   ::)   ;D

I reckon it's like the ceramic cookie jar I have!
