Hello,

I'm still pugging away at the 1/4 scale TYJ box - doors and windows were cut yesterday using the Pacer CNC machine and a tiny .5 routing bit.
The Photo next to the Earthshock helmet should give you an idea of how big this thing's going to be...

I'm going to do the graphics using inkjet acetate and white perspex but I really can't figure out what the font is.
Ariel TUR looks close but it's not dead on - any clues?
I'd also be curious to know what the fonts and wording of the phone panel are...
Does anyone truly know or has it always been speculative?
I've found info on the real boxes but I can't find a thing for the Mk 2/3.
Help!

Thanks folks -

Anita

As well as the use of different phone panels, the Yardley-Jones Mark 1 also had two different door arrangements front and back, hence the confusion. One side the centre divide was on the left door, the other side being on the right door.

In the late Baker early Davison stories the right front window was fully glazed in pebbled glass, while the left opening door with phone panel, four out of the six window panes were pebbled.

Later on the prop reverts to the stanard pebble glass in lower right and left panes in each window.

There were two phone panels used on the Yardley Jones prop.
One used a serif font and said:
POLICE TELEPHONE
FREE FOR USE OF PUBLIC
ADVICE AND ASSISTANCE
OBTAINABLE IMMEDIATELY
OFFICERS AND CARS
RESPOND TO
URGENT CALLS
PULL TO OPEN

The second phone panel was a combination of serif and sans serif fonts
and said:
(serif) POLICE TELEPHONE
FREE FOR USE OF PUBLIC
(sans serif) ADVICE & ASSISTANCE
OBTAINABLE IMMEDIATELY
OFFICER & CARS
RESPOND TO
ALL CALLS
PULL TO OPEN

Great photos and info - thanks!
The door handle in the first photo is on the center strip?!
I've not seen that before...

The glass panes have also been moved around...  ???

Maybe this is a front view and a back view? I notice that the lock has also changed doors...
In the cities in the streets there's a tension you can feel,
The breaking strain is fast approaching, guns and riots.
Politicians gamble and lie to save their skins,
And the press get fed the scapegoats,
Public Enema Number One.
