Again, if you go according to the existing Met plans, the measurements for the pillars from the top of the base to the bottom of the signbox are labelled as 7 feet 2 inches and the measurement from the ground to the base of the sloping part of the roof is stated as 9 feet 1 inch.

The pillar width, including the 1 inch beading detail on each corner of the post is stated at 7 inches in total - 5 inches for the flat face, and 1 inch each for the bead details, giving  inches for each face in total.

Thanks  Jon!

Is anyone clever enough to create a Sketchup box using the plans?
I'd love to see this as a three dimensional image before it's built.
I've been trying to get my head around sketchup but it's eluding me right at the moment.

I'm sure some talented chap or chapess will do one in sketchup. When I get a bit of time I shall do a 3d one in Maya...

I spent a few hours learning the basics of Sketchup and I've managed to produce a basic box which I'm pretty happy with - what do you think of it so far?

Totally free from google - it's really fantastic and pretty easy to use.

i tried that - a variation on the s18 box but I couldn't quite get the hang of sketchup because I am congenitally thick, basically. So mine looked like this.

Plus, I've lost the original image and all I have is a basic work in progress so I guess I'll have to start all over again.......
Oh well!!

I have your season 18 and it's a bloody nice Sketchup, all you have to do is change the design style and the lines will show up better...
Here's mine at about 95% - I'm very, very pleased with how the the Fresnel turned out.

Well done madam!  I think the only thing missing is the corner post caps. Now you should import a picture f yorself and act like you are hugging it.
