Attercliffe Road, Sheffield, apparently.

And on the colour question, apparently the first London police boxes were white. (When did the police force first become associated with the colour blue?)

Do you mean the first TARDIS style police boxes? (would be very Mind Robber!)

Attercliffe Common, I know it well (unfortunately not the box). My uncle mentioned there used to be a box there.

No, apparently it was the Edwardian (iron?) ones that were white. Mind you, that very first timber Tardis-style thing wasn't the very dark Met blue, but as the pictures are monochrome it's hard to know what colour they were. Mid-blue presumably... or mauve perhaps...!

Ah, no box at Attercliffe then, not moved into a garden and used as a shed...? (There must be a few unrecognised tardis-potting-sheds about the country, I'm sure...)

I agree with you Ironage, there must be a few boxes doubling up as garden sheds.

Whenever I'm out and about, I always make a point of driving a little slower past allotments and the like, in the hope of spotting something with a lamp on top!

Hi, that's great. I'm not the only person to slow down or get asked why i'm stopping every time i go past an allotment.

Living in Sheffield, I'm quite lucky to have a Police Box on my doorstep, ok so it isn't blue and has no similarities to it's TV relative other than name, but still....

Now whenever the local Police want a PR photo, 9 times out of 10 its the Police Box they choose (I dunno either ???). In this one, they are introducing P.C. Bill (the police equivalent of the Firebrigade's Wellifant)

Kinda reminds me of Logopolis ;D

Found these - don't know who took the pics

Apparently one's at a training college up north somewhere and one's already been mentioned so I see.

Oops
It's a good job they did adopt the Met Box for Who because they'd never have landed anywhere in the one on the left - it's massive!!! But interestingly, look at the side wall and compare to the one on the right. Similar........

I do like the bow-top boxes. That box on the left is seriously ugly, though, isn't it?

I have to say that I hadn't really noticed the simialrities before, but it isn't beyond reason that they could be based on the same original design, just a different roof.

Not only that, but Wakefield and Huddersfied aren't a million miles apart!

The windows are the same design as the Scarborough box as well...

I live in Lancashire. We've run out of police boxes. Green was probably used to disguise it in the countryside and not disturb the views much.

I see your point, although I wouldn't really say that Sheffield city centre contained that much "countryside"!

I think I feel a journey to Wakefield coming on......
