It is the Derby Gate entrance.  Here is a modern photo - if a bit high.  The police box was infront of the pedestrian entrance, ie next to the left hand "In" sign. You can see the distinctive stonework over the arch.

Here is a better angle.  I wonder if it was a wooden box used to block the pedestrian entrance during the war. Or it could be the angle of the film shot.

Sadly slightly blocked by the taxi, this police box appears to be located outside a gate at (old) Scotland Yard and has an unusual open horizontal flap at the front.  From Meet Sexton Blake! (1945).

to me what this looks like is that they took an old police box and turned it into a guard post. that would explain the flap

Sorry, don't know the date of this but it's the Wimbledon Chase box (the one shown being demolished in that distressing footage).

I came across this Image in my research today.
As far as I know we haven't seen a Police box behind a Brick wall.
I've only seen the sandbags used before.

According to the Source, it was taken in London 1941.

I also found two images of the Police Box in Dense fog in London on Park Lane, seen from Hyde Park December 1946.
Its interesting because it was taken from both sides. SourceSource

Nice images, thanks.  Here's a detail from one of the foggy ones:

Nice pics.  During the war they built "temporary" walls around things like police station entrances and police boxes to minimise bomb damage.

Perhaps they built the wall with bricks instead of sandbags because this is one of the original wooden ones boxes?

Kert, that photo of the Wimbledon Chase box, the streets are all so clean and clutter free. Is there a bigger picture?

Here's one with a nice air-raid siren.

6 Shenley Road Siren and Police Box .jpg
According to the site http://www.elstree-museum.co.uk/Home/Content/CurrentDisplays/tabid/66/ctl/SlideShow/mid/412/ItemID/83/Default.aspx it lived on Shenley Road in Elstree.

Couldn't find a date though.

If it wasn't for the blackout lamp cover I'd have happily thought this one was a public convienience!

That isn't a Box at all, its actually a walled in Police Post at Trafalgar Square.
They had an the same sort of structure around the Police Post in Piccadilly Circus.
I'm in the middle of preparing an article for the Police Post side about these "pill box" structures around Police Posts during the war.

Funny you should say that.  I passed by this site on the bus tonight and thought how grim and tatty it looked.  All that lovely station signage gone, as has the square tower.  The distinctive concrete building on the corner (which I recognised instantly on the demolition film) went about two years ago to make way for Tesco Express. Worst of all - no Police Box!  Did my best with the image, but it was quite small.

Police Box on Hadley Highstone (Great North Road) August 6, 1937
Geotag: 51.665533, -0.199075

Long since removed, but the monument and the houses remain untouched 75 years later.
