The tall white contraption is a fire extinguisher bracket.
As for the sheet of paper stuck to the back of the inner phone compartment door, I have no idea what was written on it - sorry.
I did take just one more photo of the inside, again through the window (hence the reflections), as there was no access to the inside:




I do wish I had taken a couple of shots looking through the back windows to show the inside of the doorframe, its lintel and that piece of paper.
There are a few other details I wish I'd photgraphed, so I guess I'll have to plan another visit sometime.

And very interesting to see the front door stop/jam.  Curious, do you know if it's of a piece with the concrete front or is it attached (concrete or wood)?  The Trench plans show it as a separate piece.

There was never a mortise lock on the Met style (Other types of boxes did), what you can see is the mortise/Tennant joint of the doors construction.

I had thought of that, but as the Trench plans show the rail tenons ending well short of the stile edge, I assumed. 

It's pretty on-the-cheap construction technique to drill out the mortise all the way through like that on a wide stile, to say nothing of wasteful if they did use teak.  It actually weakens the stile more than it strengthens the tenon joint, to say nothing of providing an additional channel for water to get into the joint.  Though I suppose there is possibly less likelihood of water staying in the joint with another route out of it.

I assume there are similar structural marks up and down that edge of the stile at the levels where each of the other horizontal rails meet up with it?

Those pictures of the pre-restored box, I'm surprised none of us have mentioned the traditional (possibly original even) dark, Royal Blue paint that's showing under the peeling paint.  Nice to see that there, now if only we can get the box back to *that* colour!

Purple, regarding the original colour paint - when I visited prior to restoration, I did a bit of er.. paint-scraping. The out come is that I have two 'paint samples' that I rescued. One is the real dark blue and the other is a lighter version. Both were underneath the present (at the time) paint-job.

As for the door stop/frame, I'm pretty sure it's part of the actual casting of the doorway.

The bit of paper on the inside of the telephone door - thats just a list of phone numbers and extension numbers used by the Tramway's museum.

Manta, I personally think the door was put on this way in error, but I don't believe it has ever been on the correct way. The holes you mention do look like an ex-hinge area on that picture, but look like old door handle holes in this one.

Dale, all the window now open, but the catches have not been replaced (they still live in the desk drawer!), but the windows stay put pretty well without.

As for the key box. As you can see in the above picture, there is no lock on the door. This is a newer addition (no first aid box reside in the Police Box anymore), so is presumably for a first aid box elsewhere........

A lot of landscaping work has taken place around the last remaining met box





It is now possible to walk all the way around it. They have removed the old pathway and left a massive plinth for our old friend to sit on, giving it a somewhat Buchanan Street, Glasgow, feel.
