Hi all
It seems some hardware items are difficult to source outside the UK. Yale locks, hinges, and especially the door handles are hard to find. If you are having trouble, then I'm only too willing to help out.
THese;

Karstenhandles2.jpg

and another pair of the same, are on their way to Karsten in the USA, as I type.
The items are always cost price, and first class airmail PnP.
I do not make any money, I simply like to help out if I can.
I can provide receipts, of course, if you feel the need.
Many thanks

I can speak about KB personally, he quite a top-notch bloke.  He has supplied me with Yale locks, hinges and handles.  He is a very generous person and those of us stateside are quite grateful for his generosity.  Kudos to KB!!!

cheers,
Jon~

Only that it looks larger than usual. Might be OK with your wider sign borders though. I went for silver rather than brass (optional) for all my hardware. My TARDIS is a bit of a mongrel though. I'd rather have had brass, but I couldn't find matching hardware with that finish. I actually don't much like the door handle I ended up with, but I'm happy with the one on the telephone door.

There are lots of choices for the relative positions of the three pieces too.

Is your phone panel door false? Mine will be. I cant decide on my arangement for the handles and lock, I think I prefer both handles at the same height though. I think. I am also going to seriously distress and weather my box, I noticed you chose not to. Was there any reason for this? I would just like to make mine look like its been around a bit!

I'm actually getting ready to build the phone box behind the panel. I'd originally planned to when I built the box, but didn't have a suitable phone, and wasn't sure how to reconcile wanting both doors to open wide with having a phone behind it. I think the answer has to be making the box easily removeable. At the moment the door opens, but to a blanked off panel. Watch this space...

I didn't weather or texture my box mostly because I didn't really have any idea how to do this. This was before I discovered the guilds, so I hoping to learn more from others. Also, some of the source photos I had for the Season 18 box didn't seem to show much weathering - perhaps it was just subtle.

My box has several wires going into it for various purposes and weighs about a 1/4 ton, so dismantling it for repainting or upgrades is kind of awkward. It'll probably happen eventually, though. Most likely when Purple finishes his current box :-)

These B&Q handles are used on the new series box. I have them myself. The door one is about £4.95, the little £3.75

Hi All
I know people are trying to source this item
Found this for £4.99 in FOCUS DIY (Crowborough) whilst searching for something else (Daleky) It's 1mm or so smaller than the B&Q one, but right on the button!
Ironically they don't have the larger one.

Hope this helps

If someone could please tell me the measurements for the Tardis big door handle and the little door handle.  I saw where someone posted a pictures and measurements of them but I cant find the post.  I need some idea of the height and width of these.

Thanks for any help in advance.

Quote from: doctor007 board=faqhandles thread=1246 post=22189 time=1253276645Tom, are your handles the same size... or are they different?  They look to be identical handles in the same size.   Should the handles be 2 different sizes ?  What is the standard rule of thumb on that ?

Tom doesn't appear to  have logged on here in about 11 months, so I don't know if he'll respond but I'll agree that they look to be identical handles.  The handles on the police boxes are different sizes and many people go this way but ultimately it's up to what you like and what you can find.

Where I live, nice handles that screw on from the front don't seem to be available.  What is available isn't available in multiple sizes.
