Today, Matt forgot his big circular saw and so we decied to do a side and go back to the base next week.
So, we got a side done.

So... what style of box is this going to be? Brachacki? Season 18? New Series?

We started out Brachacki, but now we're seriously into hybridisation.  Which is a polite way of saying: we're off the original measurements and are working on plausably level and plausibly square.

She'll have the white phone box door, but a wall phone on the other side.  Oh, and blue slats across the windows.

She'll be mine.

Looking really good Tara! Can we have more photos as you go along? I for one would like to see the details on things like the base (bevelled edge or square, etc) and the panelling, and the steps above the walls/doors.

Where did you get that phone you're using for an avatar?  Gorgeous!

Sorry I've been gone so long.

I got really sick with allergies and had to spend the better part of the last two weeks in bed.

The TARDIS build is dragging along in the heat.

We've got the two solid sides, the base and two corner posts mostly finished.  They need some finish work with a router and some sanding of the wood putty covering the screw holes and then it'll be time for primer.

The signs are all ordered, the windows are ordered.  TimeGirl's sending me door handles (I owe you big time TimeGirl).

The fresnel lens arrived and it's gorgeous.  5.5 inches high by about 5.5 wide.

I'm hoping to get some pictures next week.

Don't worry.  We're continuing.  I may end up buried in my TARDIS, but it'll get built!

Gahhh!  Just furious here.

Ordered the phone box sign from an online fabricator.

It arrived yesterday.  Just gorgeous, black vinyl letters on white painted aluminum, just as I ordered.  It looked so perfect. . .

Unwrapped it the rest of the way and it's got two big honking holes punched one at the middle top and one middle bottom. >

Sent them email and they've replied to send it back for replacement.

I don't need it right now for where we are in the build, but it was so lovely. . .

I told them, I told them, and I told them, (I have all the emails where I'm confirming FOUR CORNER HOLES) even sent them pictures and they still got it wrong.

I'm going to stomp off to the workroom to look at the two mainly finished sides.  For some reason this seems to calm me. . . 

I'm heading into Austin in an hour or so to pick up the Police Box signs from another fabricator.  Wish me luck.

Tara,  I found that 2005 TARDIS phone on the net somewhere.
I can email the file to you or I'll look and see if I can find the address.
I keep searching for different pics for avatars.  I would like to alter some of the pics to make them neat ie special effects, but don't know how to do that graphics kinda thing.
By the way, your avatar is still missing.

First, the good news.


TimeGirl's door handles arrived.  Here's a pic with the Fresnel lens that arrived a couple of weeks back.

I have a set of signs for the top light box.  I'm not entirely happy with them, but they'll have to do for now.  I have night latches with plain strike plates (no name on them).

Still working on getting the bloody windows.  (grumble, grumble, grumble)

My build chief, Matt, brought in a friend, Paul, who's a really fantastic carpenter.  He had a look at the build and decided we needed to change a few things if we wanted it to stand up straight and not collapse with us inside.

So, we made no real advances on the build.   We fixed some problems we didn't know we had with the solid sides, have abandoned the solid 4by4 posts for the corners and may or may not have to start over with our base.

But, at least we have a new plan of attack and all the carpenters are in agreement.

Here they are with the new and improved two solid sides and one of the top box signs.

The really bad news is that we're going on a two-week hiatus from building.  Matt's going to visit relatives and I have a literary convention I have to attend if I'm ever going to become a published writer.  I have to learn to schmoose.  I *hate* schmoosing. 

So, see y'all in three weeks.  When it's *really* hot.

Where did she get them, how much $$ and how long did it take to get state side?  By the way, The handles look superb!  KUDOS to TG..

She got them at B&Q in Ashford.
Took about two weeks to get here.

Please let me know if that avatar is up.  If it's not, I don't know what to do to make it work.

Ok, if your using photobucket and assuming you have uploaded the pic you want to use as your avatar, you must select and copy the URL address, not TAG or IMG.  Next, go to your user id modifiy profile section, make sure your avatar is selected to 'none'.  Paste your URL address from photobucket into the URL Avatar address.  Next select width and height, no bigger than 100 x 100.  That should get your avatar out there.  I still don't see it loading with your posts.

It looks like the picture is not quite up on photobucket yet.  I'm guessing the picture Tara uploaded is not in the right format. I'd try loading it into Paint, and saving as a JPG image then uploading the JPG to photobucket.
That might do it.

I went to Photobucket, deleted the old, replaced it with a new JPG, cut and pasted the URL into the forum.
