4 hours? That's amazingly quick. Did that include painting? I think you've broken my roof-building speed record. Well, you would have done if I'd been keeping track :)
Nice one!
When do we get to see it in place?

BTW, Console cutout looks good too....

New roof and lamp housing in place!

These things don't need to be aged... they get pretty banged up just by sitting there!  ???

Now... to paint the REST of the TARDIS...  ::)

Very nice roof Tom!
and the paint finish looks great. Did you use a spray gun?

(4 hours? - probably been some vortex loop control pumping going on)

Oh yes, now that's more like it - a vast improvement methinks!  So you added an inch to the bottom of your existing roof - just goes to show how something so simple can vastly improve things and I really like the new colour... don't forget to get some weathering on there too.

Let's just hope your paint dries this side of Christmas - this time around!

Looks excellent Tom! Yes - what did you use to paint it with? And I can't remember - but is your paint textured or smooth?

cheers

I used "Sunproof" outdoor acrylic latex over oil-based blue-tinted primer... the darkest blue they had wasn't dark enough for me, so I brought in a piece of the sign vinyl and got them to match that.

I don't really have any plans to do any texturing, to be honest - I don't mind the smooth look, and to tell you the truth, it's getting plenty of natural wear just sitting in the corner of the garage... I have to admit, I've hit it with the van a couple of times driving it into the garage!  ::)

LOL - now that's what I call extreme weathering, Tom!  :D

I like the smooth look as well, although I'm planning to use a kind of subtle-textured paint and some artistic paintwork to help things along, as opposed to plastering on car filler etc for that uber-concrete look (mainly because I want to avoid scraping and sanding it all down if I ever changed my mind...!  ;) )

cheers

I bet if you hit it with a van a few times, you could knock off the excess texturing compound. ;D

If I did that sort of thing, I would probably go "Oh, bugger!" and for effect make it make a load of crunching nosies and then take off, followed by a breakdown.

Yes, I do things in style.

Hi Tom

Just catching up on your thread and wondering what's the latest on your Tardis - you were looking to repaint the whole thing after fitting your new roof - did you get to do that in the end?

cheers

Nope... like Purp, I got bored with it, then the console build took over...  ::)

I hate taking it apart and putting it back together too.

Before the summer is out, though, I resolve to finish the paint job, get new signs, and set up an outdoor photoshoot!!!  8-) Maybe I'll do a recce for a gravel quarry whilst I'm at it...

;)
