Nah, I'm hoping she's doing what I'm doing - getting two versions of the Pull to Open panel, blue on white and white on blue.  I know, Mr. Indecisive...  and when I'm feeling a bit richer, I'll get meself some white on blue top signs too.

Just thought I'd post my sign box construction because I couldn't do it the proper way, by cutting a rectangle out of the wood for the front - just too difficult for me  :-/.
So I built it an easier way with a plank of wood top and bottom and bits in the end and some beading to hold in the sign.

A sanded and painted box to show how the beading looks.

Not the proper way??  That looks like the right way to do it to me (it's pretty much the way I'm thinking of doing it).  It looks really good (just like the rest of your build).

I agree. What you're doing seems to be working very well...

TG!
Your sign boxes look great.  The easy way is sometimes the right way or the best way.  It really looks like you know what your doing.
I'd be interested in seeing the back side of your sign boxes for reference when I get to mine.

Again, your signage looks great -- Met Police Box with a touch of TARDIS.    8-)

Warm regards,
Jon

It's looking brilliant TG! I've seriously thought about redoing my signboxes after seeing yours and Purples. And that colour is working out very well..! (just bought a tin of that myself :D)

cheers

What can I say other than "Amazing" - that's a brilliant job there.  You say you've simplified the construction of the sign boxes, well you're in good company as that is pretty much how the Hartnell TARDIS sign boxes were done.

I think its a brilliant Idea,  perhaps having that in the V2 manual when that is started again would be a great addition

Thank you for your kind comments folks!  :D
I was initially disappointed that I couldn't make the sign boxes the TARDIS builders manual way - but now Purple has said that my way is like the Hartnell box construction method - I'm really happy!  :D :D :D

And, glad you like the signs DrIz -'Met Police Box with a touch of TARDIS' sounds good to me!

Those sign boxes are beautiful TG. Have you figured out which way you fancy illuminating them yet?

I agree with DrIz, has all the right elements to make a best-of-both-worlds TARDIS.

Whats next on you list?

Hi Mark
In fact I have been lighting my one sign box with a temporary solution of  putting three small amber coloured solar path lighters in the box in the evening (then taking them out during the day to re-charge them again  :-/ not a long term solution) Unfortunately they give a rather uneven light. The solar lamp is working well and it does illuminate the whole fresnel, but brighter in the centre. You can't see it properly in this picture - best I could get with my camera.

At the moment I'm filling and sanding the rest of the sign boxes. I hope to fit them this weekend (weather permitting) and paint the goo over the rest of the roof and on to the tops of the boxes. Oh, and I've forgotten the post caps, I need to make those too.

Hope the weather's fine for you TG.

How long do you think it'll take before you get bored of removing, recharging and replacing those lamps!?
