Hello Everybody! This is my second build, although I have yet to post images of my first, which is still a work in progress and also hardly a build at all, as I got bored, grabbed everything lying around the house and put something together. This console will, for now at least, serve as the primary console for my TARDIS. A good friend (who also happens to be a whovian of the highest degree)'s birthday is coming up in may, so I intend to give it to her then, as a present.

I'm probably seeming like a raving lunatic, and I am, but nonetheless, I will see it done.

I've put together some rough sketches, which will also apply for my later TARDIS build for an octagonal console, each side with a distinct function. The console will be a hybrid between the newwho (nuwho? new-who? new who?) and the older Who, with a tall central column and flat sides, and at least one clear panel, showing the mad workings within. The controls will be primarily scavenged from anything and everything people cannot wrest from my hands speedily enough.

So there's an overview of the project. I'm heading to a local car boot sale today, to pick up a table and bits for the time rotor and will post pictures as they become available. I may also try to pick up some wood, or if not, make templates for the panels today. I apologise for a picture-less first post, but I will provide pictures of the table, and the rough sketches, in my next one.

Well, I'm back from a fruitful trip to the local car boot sale, and now, for your viewing pleasure, here are the bits and pieces I brought back!

EDIT: Sorry I didn't include the rough sketches, but I realised they would make little sense to anyone but myself.

This table will serve as the base of the TARDIS, on which I shall mount the panels;

This table will be mounted on this;

I also got this ceiling light holder thing to serve as the base of the time rotor;

These other beauties will be used as bits to attach;

These lights will probably end up lighting the TARDIS, either from inside or out.

This lid has dice on, so I'm planning to modify it and use it as part of a anti-quantum randomisation circuit.

These two will end up as part of the controls;

Here are a few pictures of the pieces laid in their rough configuration. Obviously there will be slanted control panels and more wires, switches, levers, buttons and time rotor, and of course less pringle cans (just pretend it's a time rotor);

You know those lamps I found today? (see my last post if not) They're infra-red, and they work! Without destroying my home's electrics too! huzzah!

Here's a picture of one on (it may look like it's in a dark room, but it isn't. It's so bright it was either let you see the lamp or let you see the room. I chose lamp.)

The fact they're infra-red will be rather helpful, as the build (and the final build once I've given this one to my friend) will eventually be located in an unheated loft.

Well, what with being back to school today, I've had little time for TARDIS work. I've got a whole week off for half-term at the end of the week, but I'm camping for the first few days, but I *should* be able to manufacture and attach (and maybe even start adding bits to) the panels by the end of it. The main obstacle at the moment is getting the wood to make the panels out of. I cut this test piece/template out of MDF;

It looks about right size-wise, and with a bit of sanding should make a good template!

I also updated the time rotor by putting my Tenant/Ecclestone TARDIS core playset (all the way back from 2006), obviously this isn't in any way meant to represent what the final time rotor will be like, but it makes noises, so I am content. In the picture I've lit it with the red infra-red lights, but I may have to get some replacement green filters for them (what do people think of that idea?), or use them as "emergency lights". Also the time rotor in the picture is placed on top of a waste-paper basket, which actually brings it to the height I wanted, so I've got a template to work from!

I also found this periscope, which could look rather good if sprayed...

Sorry for the extreme length of time I've been away for, but I've been too busy to do any TARDIS work. I've got a few days to work on the TARDIS, so hopefully you should get some more updates from me!
