I believe it is - well spotted!

Y33 - The Box on the island at the junction of Green Lanes & Alderman Hill, about 100 yards east of Palmers Green Station.

There are three Palmers Green Boxes, so I will rename the Topic to reflect which one it is - the two candidates are Palmers Green Station Box due to the proximity of the Station; and Palmers Green Triangle Box, as the area is also known as The Triangle. Thoughts?

Note that as of 2008 the tree was still there!

Unfortunately, as of 2011 it was gone  :-\ --

These high-res images are a real treat, Pete! (I don't know where you're finding all of them, but great hunting and thanks for posting them.) If you open them in a new window to see them full-size they really pop out at you!

Here's another similar photo of this box literally a few months before the one below.......

I'm not surprised the tree's gone, when they altered the road & put in new curbing they cut part of the tree & it's roots away so would have either fallen over or died & had to be removed. :-/

Two pictures from Stephen Mansfield (a rather talented sculptor who I 'follow' on Twitter) of the box on the Triangle at Palmer's Green:

It looks like the original (Mark I (?)) Box was replaced at some point with the version that had the row of three windows on the sides).

How marvellous to see both the originally sited box, and the one that eventually replaced it! Thanks for reposting these Tony.

You're welcome Mark.

Here's another - this time from 1955 (picture from the Southgate Historical Society):

palmers green 1955.jpg

You can see the Met Box much more clearly if you open the picture in a separate tab.

Here's another "new" photo from 1969.......

Absolutely beautuful shot!  :o

Dalekoracle

Fantastic photo - always nice to see a colour shot.

lym

Especially at night, which is rare in itself. Interesting how this one has been photographed at night, in colour, on two occasions; I wonder if they're related.

Dalekoracle

Well TBH, i should think that the first of the colour photos was more about the very large Christmas Tree in the middle of the photo, and has nothing to do with the Box itself.

;D
