Here's a recurring prop from both new and old series. I think its a nice bit of design and
throws the light quite nicely from it. I'd like to make some at some point......

These lamps were first seen in Power Of The Daleks

And also in the new series! End of the World

Anyone know anything about them? I suspect they might be an off the shelf item since they had them again in the new series...

Getting closer...

They seem to be referred to as "orgue" as in organ, or pipe lamps/sconces.
Cos they look like organ pipes, I guess.

Still searching, but hope that's some help.

Where did you find that link?

The only two I can come up with that are close are:

http://www.furniture-love.com/258/Pair-of--Raak-Fuga-organ-pipes-sconces.php

and

http://www.coleehammockhome.com/Pipe_Sconce_p/991405.htm

Neither of which is exactly correct.

( An aside, for some reason I can see these in an evil Tardis:  http://www.hauntershangout.com/graphics/projects/WallSconce/finished3.jpg )

EDIT: Removed shorterlink.com usage.

I bet it would be easy to knock a replica out with PVC pipe

I was wondering about that, but thinking about what materials should be used and if it needed painting, then would it really be possible to paint something that would then be shiny and reflective?

With a metallic paint it should look close.  PVC obviously has a nice smooth finish which would shine well, the internal lamp would do the rest of the work.

Hi, these organ pipe wall brackets are the same ones in every episode and painted different colours as required. They come from a prop hire company in London where I work. In the next week I will take some photographs and get sizes and send in a message.
I hope this will help. technodoug

Dude! Perfect timing :)  I was just looking into them again recently!

Thanks, I look forward to your next posts :)

Now that's what I'm talking about!

Thank you so much, technodoug!

Hi as promised some photographs and sizes.
The organ pipe shapes are made from 7 aluminium tubes size 32cm x 38mm with cut outs  as in drawing.
The original colour is anodised  brass but have been painted in different  colours over the years.
The main frame is made from 15mm x 3mm steel. The shape is in the drawing its just over half of a circle. The outside diameter of the would be 14cm but remember its is just over half 9cm from the outside of the curve to the flat section is 9cm.
Around the outside of metal curve is a Perspex spacer to help the light flow
The bolt holes to fix the tubes start in the centre of the perspex and are 38mm apart 7 in total.
The perspex is 3mm x 9cm wide x length to suit the metal frame

Ahaaa,  slightly different than I had imagined from the not amazing screen grabs.

Really great info, thanks a million :)

Wow! What details! Some PVC piping (carefully cut and then sections glued together), some frosted perspex (although I think you can get some plain translucent white for drop-in light covers at a home improvement store - cut that into strips of this size and they should bend fairly easily), maybe a strip of metal, wires, lamp bulb socket, wall plug, and in our modern times a low-heat, low energy compact fluorescent or LED bulb to reduce any chance of melting things. This could be someone's weekend build.

Do I hear Oblivion making plans to start one of these once his hand is mended? ;) ;D (Speaking of which, if you're reading this and can type out a brief answer, how's it all going, old friend?)

Thanks to these awesome refs and dimensions, I came up with this as a replacement for my other lamp....
