These were two scarves that were knitted, the Season 14 was knitted by myself and took 5 months to knit, the Season 18 was knitted by my friend and took 3 weeks to knit. Mine is 66 stitches wide and is 19ft 4 inches and the other is 44 stitches wide and is a similar length526186_4164137027551_489930734_n.jpg526179_4164120907148_664466856_n.jpg

After my friend browsing ebay for a Season 18 scarf, i offered to knit him one. This is what the finished scarf looks like

Not bad at all. If I were to nitpick I would say that purple is slightly too bright, but that's only becuase I've persuaded my wife to knit one for myself, and have been looking at different shades of wool recently. The pattern looks fabulous though, you have quite a skill there!

It could be the light from the flash, so I wouldn't judge it too much. http://www.doctorwhoscarf.com/s18.html has yarn recommendations.

After knitting it, I believe the purple is too light from looking at a few reference pics and being told repeatedly that it was wrong by someone who had one, rather than complimenting me on making the effort to knit it -.- Some people just dont appreciate the effort some people put in

Well it is only a nitpick after all. Mine is actually Burgundy and Black... No other colours at all. But I still love it to bits. It's just so long and thick and luxurious and "very comforting when worn next to the skin".

That's because you like living in cold places, Marc. ;)

Finland is warm in the summer but during this last week Vienna has been damn snowy and cold. But it's the first time I've seen Vienna like this ;)

To be fair, it is actually very difficult to get all the right shades in the same grade and brand. Sadly the online recommendations seem to all be american brands, so if like me you live in the UK that puts you back to square one.

Mine was made in Finland. I think the Burgundy colour is pretty close though :)

FYI, Gene Fender (current proprietor of doctorwhoscarf.com) and myself are part of Stitches in Time on Facebook Groups, and there has been MANY discussions on finding the right look and texture for the Season 18 scarves.  The original yarn the TV and exhibitions scarves were made of aren't available anymore.

Link please, I will like this forthwith - As much as I dearly love my scarves, I would like a more accurate one at some stage... :)

You might recognize a few names, like Chris Kingbees, Alister Pierson, Steve Ricks, and Bob Mitch.

Don't be surprised if you see my wife's name pop up on there as well (and maybe one of her friends who is literally a witty little knitter; she never stops!).
