Quick question about your lamp, I'm going to nick that idea of having the lens turned on a lathe (your Nottingham mate available?) and wondered how you get it clear again after lathing? Do you need to use a fine buffing tool or something to get them crystal clear again?

I believe he wet-polishes it.  I also asked him to drill a hole into the base, about 4mm deep, to "peg" it to the roof.
