So about 10 years ago I built a Special Weapons Dalek, but I had to sell it when I moved from the UK to the USA as Im sure you can imagine Ive wondered what became of it, where it is now that kind of thing, but about 2 weeks ago I decided I wanted to build a TARDIS and so I set to work.  I had 3 weeks off from my regular job so now seems as good a time as any.....

So heres the work diary so far..... as far as plans I had a few but none of them were the same, each contradicted the other and so I decided rather than building a TARDIS from a specific era Ill build my own TARDIS....

Marked and cut out the side panels and door







Added frames to the side panels...







Built the base.... My little girl helped



Shes a good helper!!

Got my signed made for me using acrylic and blue Vinyl and an Aluminium door sign

Total cost worked out about $200 from Budget Signs and Graphics in Tucson Az

With the roof painted I now had the Doors and panels to paint....

Still now finished BUT I had to leave for work now and wont be back for 4 weeks, so these are the last photos till then...







Need to get the St Johns sticker made properly, might get it done in enamel.  I also used a window screening for behind the windows.

So there it is so far!!

What a great build! And always nice to have a small helper. I used to have one of those, but she grew up... .

Your TARDIS is like a real-life version of the way Dave Gibbons used to draw the TARDIS in the 70's and 80's comics with the sign boxes meeting each other instead of the corner posts separating them.

At the end of the day with so many different plans floating about the internet I decided to just go ahead and make my own version so to speak. Glad that having the corners touch isnt some cardinal sin......lol

So I looked everywhere for an enamel St Johns Ambulance logo but apparently they dont have them so I contacted the guy who did my other signs (both a fan of Doctor Who and GHI) in regards to having it made up for me, and to my surprise my wife had already gone to him and they are waiting for me when I get home.  My Wife is AWESOME.  Ill be home in about 3 weeks and Ill be able to put it on the door.....

I cant wait.

Gotta love a woman like that, be good to her, she's a keeper. My wife makes out she's too cool to like Doctor Who to other people, but she's on the edge of her seek every week watching it. She's even having a couple of prints (I don't know which ones) done up in a big frame for me that she wants put up in the living room. I suspect one of the prints is the "Van Gough" exploding Tardis painting as she's a bit of an art fan.


But back on topic, can't wait to see the badge installed.

I only started my TARDIS build about 3 weeks ago now and ive spent the last week and a bit in New Zealand....
