Gotter up and running.  Still much more to do.
1. Add the rest of the contols.
2. Paint
3. Main Rotor is not in place.
4. Tons of wiring.
5. ETC ETC

How do you like her?  It's about the 6th console I have built and when I'm finished it will not be the most complicated but will be the prettiest.

I noticed the Enterprise-D hanging on the wall and I see a Romulan Bird of prey sitting on a shelf.

Did you miss the Defiant too? ;)

Love it!  Always loved the rings on the console... an idea also used to great effect in the Superman movies for holding the prisoners in a forcefield type thing...

Well done, can't wait to see more progress on this!

Brilliant!  What method did you use to hold the rings together?  What components did you use to create the motion?  Great work!

The rings are three steel bike rims. Apparently no one in the city could figure out what I was talking about so I decided to us bike rims.  They are welded at the joints.  The spinning platform provides the motion.  The main colum was initially intended to have one ring move up and down around the cylanders.  After completing the mechanism I found it very shaky and not very impressive.  I think I will switch to a moving light between the 4 cylanders instead.

Now I'm ready for paint.  We have a colonial house with black antiqued finishes... that's how everything but the pannels will look.  The pannels will be brass and so will the rings and rotor.  Hence the Verne look.

Most of the controls will do nothing.  (WHAT! you say?) Yes nothing.  I have built many consols over time and when you get into just flipping swithches and playing with it you find that it becomes less amusing when each time to flip a switch you turn something on or off.  That's why I decided to just control the rotor, lights and sound and leave the rest for fun.  Plus, If any of you have guest you immediatly find out that everyone wants to play with it and again the same argument applies.  I'm a little rough on my consoles... like the doctor.

BUT IT"S FUN!

Smashing console - I'm sure I've seen one of yours somewhere before... Do you have a gallery?

Ah yes, the "Don't touch that switch!!" effect. I'm familiar with that one from having small children. My console has one unassuming switch that's actually an override, and arranges that throwing any of the other switches makes noises but has no other effect - I call it "The Rassilon Imprimatur" or, sometimes, "Pinball Mode".

Very lovely... not normally a fan of the Jules verne look... (I hated the console in the TV Movie) but yours is very lovely... combining the antique look with some clever moving sections...

Care to divulge how you drive your rings....

Ok here it is ... the colum.  Finally got the thing to work the way I had invisioned it.  Paint is nearly done.  Now I have to remount all the controlls and wire it... YUK.   "Looks's rather spendid doesn't it?"
