I still think the Manual is great piece of work, i built my posts using it, and am more than happy with them, i used wooden planks instead of MDF, but if you take time to finish it properly, the gap down one edge isn't
a problem, i joined the planks then planed along it, then filled and sanded it, even now i can't see where the gap is, look forward to the new improved manual, i'd like to see more detail on Door construction with maybe a diagram or two, as it can be a bit confusing, with many bevels in them.

Cheers

But remember, the original Brachacki prop didn't have bevels on the door stiles, and that version is my favorite (followed closely by the New Series TARDISes, both versions tied there: Series 1-4 because of the new look, and Series 5 because of the return to the Hartnell-style look).

Anyway, I am also looking forward to the new manual. (Actually, I've been looking forward to it since I downloaded the original manual back in 2004 or 2005 - can't remember which year - and saw that another was in the works, but with no estimated completion date. So yeah... I'm really looking forward to this one!)

So, uhhhh.... how's it going? I'm pretty keen to see the NST addition to this thing. Are we close? Huh? Huh?  ;D

Kiwidoc,

I was just looking through my copy of your original manual and had a couple of more suggestions for your updated version.

One is the St. John logo versions (Hartnell, Smith, and even Cushing). I can supply you with the graphics for those if you want.

Second is the TARDIS Lamp. If you're planning to include some of the 2010 TARDIS in this update you should include that lamp (actual prop vs. promotional prop) as well. (I should have thought of that when I mentioned the 2005 TARDIS lamp last time. Sorry.)

Third is the list of links you have near the end...

Several of them point to the old MSN groups (TARDIS Builders Guild, TARDIS Rebuilders, and Dalek Builders Guild). The link to the (official?) Dalek Builder's Guild now seems to be http://www.dalekcity.co.uk/. And then there is another "Dalekbuilders" site at http://www.dalekbuilders.co.uk/. (Not sure which one the original link was intended to point to.)

The link you have for the Official BBC site has changed. The one you have in there now links to the Classic Series and its new URL is http://www.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho/classic/. (The link to the New Series Official page is http://www.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho/dw.)

The link you used to calculate angles (trigonometric stuff) is dead now.

Scarfwearer's Relative-Dimensions site link still works, but it has a different URL when you get there. (Since it's his site I'll let him provide you with how he wants its URL listed.)

And I think the old "Doctor Who Prop Builders Club" (another old MSN site) is now our "WhoProps" which you can get to from this Forum via the tab at the top, or if you want to list it separately: http://whoprops.proboards.com/.

Hopefully this was of some help.

LOTS of good points, thanks Dino!   Still working on this by the way folks, just pecking away on odd nights when I have time.  that and the TARDIS Library site which is now 90% ready to go but every month I don't get it up, more stuff comes up and goes on my update list...

Kiwidoc,

I found another link you may wish to add to your list in your updated manual. I found it through the post on Rassilon1's 2005 New Series Dalek build: http://www.projectdalek.co.uk/files/index.html. (Sad part is you have to join to fully access and enjoy the site. Not a biggie of you don't already have close to a dozen or so groups that you belong to. So many usernames and passwords, so few brain cells!) ;)

If I may suggest as well, some magnificent information and building techniques can be seen and read about on philipw's post documenting his fantastic Matt Smith box build, found on the RPF website here- http://www.therpf.com/f9/my-new-series-dr-who-tardis-build-image-heavy-99629/

Perhaps he'd be happy to supply reference pics, if asked. I didn't realise just how differently the new-new box was construction-wise until I saw his handiwork on that site. From the signboxes to the panel construction and doors, this baby is all new, and Philip has REALLY done his homework here. A mastercraftsman, too, I must say. I'm glad I chose to build the CE/DT early box, it's SO much simpler. Then again, looking at how good Philip's turned out... I'm rather jealous. A bit. :-)

Rebelscum? Not in my opinion.

Hello all.

I suppose if this manual had been updated/completed by now, the link to it would have been posted somewhere - or did I miss it?

In the meantime, I'll continue to pore over everything here and come up with plan until then... Thanks.

Regards,

Douglas

Well, kiwidoc has been very busy, so he hasn't been able to give a completion date for Version 2 yet. (It's rough when life gets in the way.) But at least for now, his Version 1 is still accessible as a free PDF download here: TARDIS Builders Workshop Manual. (I double-checked; this link is good.)

I hope this is helpful for anyone that hasn't gotten it yet.

Thanks for the info.

I had found the TARDIS Builders Workshop Manual V.01 on another site too when I was looking for it... https://www.docdroid.net/qk1k/tardisbuildersmanualbyglenwalker-1.pdf
