Luke, on the lamp I agree it isnt exact but very close. I wouldnt sweat it, to be honest from a distance nobody is gonna know the difference. Are you going to cut off the top and add the cone to the top?

And your build is looking nice, will be an excellent addition to the gallery when complete.

One suggestion or curiosity, I would have constructed my 3 walls first and had the walls and sign boxes in place before I tried to hang the doors. Only based on experience.....

Yep I'm chopping it. I found a bird feeder with a close roof that I'm using for the top.

Okie dokie dude ;)

Will try and get the three walls up this week.

I had another eventful day today. I managed to complete and mount all of the corner posts, trim three of the corner posts, and filler in all of the screws on the top of the base. Hopefully I'll have the back wall attached to the rear corner posts by tomorrow:

Luke,

I like the look of your wood. Is that stock pine? It looks like a high quality product!   Also how are you attaching your corner posts to the base?

Note of caution, if this box is going to be exposed to any moisture I would be very careful on the use of wood filler. I used wood filler and it didnt fare well when exposed to the weather.

It's all planed U.S Redwood, and the plywood is exterior ply. The corner posts are attached via a metal bracket, at the bases of the posts.

No need to worry about he filler as it will be well covered in the garage, and if it falls out of splits then I will replace it with the filer I can't use at school (because it don't comply with health and safety :D hehe)

Today I trimmed the rear corner posts, attached the rear panel, and began to reinforce the panel with pine:

As you can see Tabby was happy as normal:

Until tomorrow :)

Luke this is a fantastic tardis build and I love its solid and sturdy and robust look and feel to it. Keep up the fantastic progress.

Great start here Luke, looks like she'll be a very solid Tardis indeed.
Farewell Sarah Jane, you will be missed.

Attached the left wall today. She's very sturdy now :)

Luke, keep that progress going. Dang this is exciting to see a TARDIS build with progress on a daily basis.

You are doing at 16 what I dreamed about doing and didnt until I was 41..Also you have a quality looking build.

So US Redwood, is that more expensive?  Unfortunately I built mine out of stock pine because it was cheap LOL...  I love the knots and grain I see on your posts. They look massive and beefy.

How about a close up shot of the metal bracket you are using to hold the corners in place?

flaming cog

I love walking in to the room; it's like "AHHH BIG TARDIS".

Not a clue, lol, It's just what the timber yard offered.

Sure, will take a photograph tomorrow :)

Brilliant progress Luke, looks to be a VERY accurate build! I agree with Scott, it is really exciting to have a consistently updated build diary (as opposed to mine - at the moment all I really do is most minor updates in painting my box - too cold for anything else lol!).
Anyway, fantastic progress, I'm jelous!

PS: Saw your post that you are using the Iris stain. Yup, lovely colour, isn't it? :)
Isn't it how ironic that we have to think of solutions out of the box, in order to build our boxes a lot of the time?

flaming cog

Thanks dude, Glad your enjoying the progress pics.

Indeed I love the Iris stain, I much prefer it to the bright blue that is actually used on Matts Tardis. I looks a lot more natural, and is a good deep blue.

I finally attached the last wall today. Now for all the detailing:

Here's the brackets, their not much, but overall produce a lot of support for the structure. Also they help it become easy to disassemble:

Luke, thanks for the shot of the bracket. It looks nice.
