hey, during my course in making the tv movie interior i found the need for the layout of the console panels, so i have mocked up, (almost to scale..still getting used to the cad tools for illustrator.. i'll be using this to create the holes needed for various meters and such when making the wood panels for my console in 3ds max.. and thought they may be usefull to someone else :) and i believe in sharing and giving back to the wonderful people here, cause i have gotten so much from here.. :)

i have included a jpg here and will of cause create up some pfd's and or illustrator files

it's not perfect but i've tried to get it as accurate in location and size as i can.. but of cause revisions and corrections always welcome..

cheers everyoneconsolelayoutl.jpg

Thanks very much for putting this together! I don't think I've seen a schematic for this particular prop anywhere that actually shows the full layout.
Brilliant!

As Promised here is a Revisied PDF for the console. rescaled to match the demensions given from the actual prop. ive tried to scale it as close as i can from the limited photos i have of the prop.. added overall dimensions and light colors where possible. (some are missing cause of bad creation of the shapes so i can color each part on some objects)

again any revisions and comments crits always welcome :)

enjoy :)

Thank you. This panel layout is fantastic. One day I may build this console. Cheers =D
why doesn't the Guide mention them? - Oh, it's not very accurate.
Oh? - I'm researching the new edition.

Funny, looking down on it like that, it almost looks like the same proportions as its predecessors.

Good work :)

I would think the 1996 Movie section in Console Reference would help with that. It's got loads of close-ups of the actual console, and some video links to the lucky guy who owns it now. (If he hasn't already joined our Forum, is there anyone here who can convince him to join, and maybe provide some close-ups of the panels when they're all lit up?)

I've just got to get enough mobility back (not just walking), and some $$$ so I can start building a console. I really want one, and since the wife has given her blessing to have one in the entertainment room, and has gotten a few bubble globes for the 9th/10th Doctor console - which she really likes (and it has lots of glowy bits!), I'm starting to feel naked (metaphorically) without my console.

The actual console is in the private collection of comic artist Paul Salamoff.  You can always ask him for details.

He was the lucky guy I was referring to, if he's the same one who's got a Youtube vid or two showing the console, and letting everyone know that it's in safe hands:

It would be great if we could get him to join our Forum.

I've seen the guy in the Eight costume (second vid link) before. He was one of a group of fans who won the "How 'Who' Are You?" contest, and got to host the KTEH 'Doctor Who' marathon:
Part 1 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HvZygNEvScI (Very cool intro, including their contest-winning video)
Part 2 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zi4DDTD1UOc&feature=relmfu
Part 3 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wiZyatCNpMU&feature=relmfu
Part 4 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4hpFc_Ool9M&feature=relmfu
Part 5 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Q98nJsXLCY&feature=relmfu (final part)

A lucky guy: all of him!

I have a standing invite from him to visit it (and him) if I ever make it out to Cali again.  I'm hoping to do so.

Take plenty of photos, there can never be too many photos. :)

I recently came across this and thought it would be a good addition to the Reference Section, though I'm not sure how accurate the measurements in it are. Anyway, here's the drawing:

I hope some of this is useful.

Very useful for the Compendium project I've got. Nice layout.
