We have undergone some major upgrades, including a remane, to the way we shoot and edit our films.

So far we have produced five christmas shorts:

We have also begun the series (very oddly due to filming restrictions) with episode 2:

Finaly we have done a trailer for the first three episodes:

What does everyone think?

Luke,

If you did all the CGI stuff yourself then you have quite a good amature talent.

I like how Gallifrey looks suspiciously like the UK with a good Snow...

I think timing and direction are not bad but the CGI could use more work on the textureing. this always seems to be the problem with any CGI it seems though. What program are you using for it? also is this lack of texture due to skill, program capability or processing power?

the only other issue I have seen is lack of story line. the characters are not believable with so limited a time on screen. so I think with your added efforts to flesh it out it will end up being quite good. I am wondering what other program you are using for layup of the video with the rendered CGI? the layover is not suffering from the typical outlines around the rendering so this I am impressed with,

I say it is a really good beginning and you should definitely not stop here.
Sincerely, and most appreciatively,
The Architect.

Seems that The Architect's thoughts mirrored mine when I looked at it earlier this afternoon...
More texturing and lighting perhaps on the CGI would help alot, not that the CGI was bad, it was certainly better than a lot of stuff I have seen

All animation is done by me, some of the models are made by friends of mine. (the Daleks, a Tardis console)

Near the beginning of the episode its due to skill, then afterwards it was due to program/Model capability. I'm using anim8or, the Daleks were created by friends of mine, that I then modified, and could not be textured. Next time Daleks appear in an episode though they will be full size replicas instead.

Lack of storyline is only really apparent in this episode until the second bit where it gets very conversational. Bit 1 was kind of a CGI test.

I'm now using Adobe After Effect 6.5 (I'm still learning all the functions of it)

With Anim8or I do feel in the "dark ages", mind I'm hoping to swap most of my CGI to modelwork soon, as it's always been my dream to make models for Dr who.

All three of you, thank you very much for your kind words  :) Does anyone else have any points?

Luke

P.S Found this today, I'd forgotten all about it. I would like to point out that I am remaking it into a full episode as it seems rushed.

Luke... LUUUKKKEEEE.... I AM YOUR FAATTHERRR......

Ok not really..

If I lived in todays world when I were your age I am sure I would be doing exactly what you are doing.

Back in the old days we didnt have neat toys to work with. I posted this eons ago on the old TR2 but thought you might enjoy this short video. This was shot on Super 8mm film which had no sound, no edit, everything done in one take good or bad.

I transferred all old home movies to MPEG couple years ago and I edited this with added musical score. I should update and do SFX but maybe another day.
Oh by the way growing up in the States Star Wars was it! Didnt get exposed to Dr Who until my late teens.

Glad ya like it :)

It was a set of FX Stormtrooper armour, that comes in kit form. I then made the parts to convert it to Sandtrooper (the ab plate, the knee plate, the binoculars, t-21 blaster. Check my site for more info: www.captaindevil.co.uk

Both are rank of Captain, the squad might be a bit annoyed if I promoted myself :P

To get back on topic, because we have strayed from Dr Who.... my fault he he. Here are some other trailers:

The ponsey looking outfit and door, is a flashback from when I was playing the young first Dr in my old series "The Traveller". It can be found here as a playlist:
