Does anyone have something I can put on my tardis's laptop that resembles the Tardis databank? I have the new series screensaver and destiny of the Dr's so far. but neither look right.

thanks

D'you mean the "TARDIS Information System" that appeared in the 5th Doctor era?

Thank you again

Given when it was made (before the IBM PC, before Windows, before the Apple Mac, before True Type), I would guess that the text is actually a custom graphic. The 'Ready for Entry' text is probably the one 'font' produced by the character generator on the computer in there, which is quite likely to be a BBC Micro.

You can probably get by using either the font Impact, Compacta Bold, or Helvetica Compressed.

Greetings, All,

None of the fonts on my computer seem to match up "exactly" with the "TARDIS Information System". The only one that comes close is called Serpentine, and even that is noticeable different. Arial seems to work for the "READY FOR ENTRY" part. So, I tried my hand at freehanding the letters. It's still not perfect (except for maybe the background color - I think I found a great match for that), but I think it looks OK. Although, I think most of that color on the original might be just the monitor's natural color.

Here's a half-sized version of what I did to compare with the image above. I'm curious to see what others come up with.

that looks spot on! just the S thats slighty wrong :)

I am thinking about making a program to run like the "information System", as dad tells me it will be simple.....

Which S? (I'm guessing the one in TARDIS.) I'll see if I can tweak it a little.

OK... I did some tweaking on the S, and after a dozen or so more looks at the original image I tweaked a couple of other letters juuuust a bit. (I've kept my original try so now I've got two versions to mix and match letters with.) So here's the half-sized Version 2:

Thanks. Let me know if you'd like the full-size image. Byte-wise it's only 189k, but appearance-wise it's bigger.

Did you fellas ever try graphics in the early eighties?  If you want it accurate, the whole this is constructed from pixels.  No rounded edges, and certainly not the neat font at the bottom...  sorry chaps.
My pilot's license? That's out back in the Cessna. Or perhaps you're referring to my license to kill. Revoked. Trouble at the Kazakhstan border.

I could give you the details but then I'd have to kill you, which I can't do because my license to kill has been revoked.

The highest resolution graphics mode of the BBC Micro was 640x256 pixels (the pixels were not square).
I seem to recall that the memory mapping of the pixels was pretty bizarre also...
