I decided to join the white window club! Not enough Tardises with white windows.

Am very relieved to get the major work out of the way. I've been spending ages getting all the components ready for final assembly and it was starting to seem that it would never happen. Plus I had to lay the patio underneath it first. I have been very busy indeed.

What's next? All the little bits and bobs I mentioned plus I want to get power to it to power some lights. Going to get an electrician in to supply the garden with power so minimal effort there really... and also I would like to put up a cupboard and phone cubby behind the panel. Then I can use the cupboard to store tools I frequently need and the Tardis has more of a purpose than just looking pretty! Unfortunately it's too difficult to make the inside look that nice due to it being a fibreglass/ wood mishmash in there.

Thanks for all the kind words, Am looking forward to seeing your Police boxes go up!

Cheers Chris, I was relieved the pieces all fit together! Also it had been too long without a Tardis in the garden. Now landscaping the rest of the garden won't seem like such a chore.

Davewho: After much umming and ah'ing I decided to go with the traditional  Royal Blue from Dulux, it's weathershield high gloss finish. Starts off  glossy but with a bit of natural weathering it dulls down nicely. It's hard to tell exactly because there are small number of colour photos from the period but some afficionados say this was how the original boxes were painted although truth of the matter is probably more muddled. I've seen photos of all shades of blue.

HI Matt
Rock n roll and surf how cool is that? Which one are you in the pic? Mrs KB is curious.
If you get a friends request from Robert_punk on space it's my son and trusty drummer at my last gig and a better guitarist than his dad to boot.

Fixed the window panes, isoglooped the signboxes and bits here and there and another coat of paint. Doesn't really justify an update but it was a nice day and I haven't really shown this side of the box.

I need to make the lamp housing next. A number of you have made very nice lamp housings. Last weekend I bought my son a small football (10 inch or so in diameter) and took a cast from it using plaster of paris. I'd now like to pour some plastic goop in the hemisphere to make the dome on top of the lamp. Purple, I know you used fibreglass, is there any other material TARDIS builders would recommend? (The cheaper the better)

I am really liking your Manta-TARDIS, you should be well pleased with the work you have done.

If you compare your box with the Wetherby one, than the anount of extra work and attention to detail you have put in really shows and makes your version a Manta-Masterpiece! ;D

Nice one mate

Thanks everyone, I'm really pleased you're liking what I'm doing!

I am making progress on my lamp fitting... I eventually used a fibreglass repair kit from halfords to make the dome, using the imprint from  a football in some plaster of paris. So I have a scruffy looking dome:

It's a bit wonky! Now to sand it smooth and level it  to fit snugly on the wooden disk.
