Series 5 Sonic Screwdriver Reference Images

As part of the onslaught of pics from the first outdoor shooting of Series 5, the 11th Doctor is sporting a new sonic screwdriver.  It appears to blend elements of the Eccleston/Tennant model with the Pertwee/T Baker/Davison model.

They seem to have given up the ghost as far as the telescopic features go, maybe their just trying to design a prop that will last a whole season.

Mmmh, looks like they went with the with the suspended blue ball at the top like in the concept sketches for Eccleston's Sonic. Always liked that idea...

Overall, pretty good design. Would have expected something closer to the "future sonic" though.

Only one thing: Is it me or does it look like a cheap plastic toy?
It might be a stunt version or maybe it's just becauase the pictures are not really sharp.
In my opinion it kinda lacks the look and "weight" of a metal tool. Again might be the photography...

All in all, okay

I'm going to have some trouble adjusting to Matt Smith.  He looks to...erm...a bit like Marylin Manson if you know what I mean.  The sonic, if that's what that prop is, is a bit odd.  The white and black section is shaped like it came from a real screwdriver.

I noticed the "head" sorta resembles a Phillips-head screwdriver.
