Maybe the sign saying "This TARDIS was used in the film 'Dalek Invasion of Earth'" does not refer  to the 1966 movie, but a fan film of the same name. Which, if true, is very sneeky! Otherwise it is complete and utter Galifreyan ball ox!

Or perhaps a very very long shot of a police box in the background somewhere can,t say i have ever really looked to see if there actually is one caught on camera would be a nice get out of jail free card to the claim  ;D
I didn't invent the hypothetical situation, but let's just suppose for a second that I did........

I Think I can throw some light on this prop. It was made for a very amateur film called Ocean in The Sky made by the DWAS in the late 70's on super 8.
The man who made the film claimed it was from the Cushing Movies as was one of the Daleks used in his film which he claimed was the Dalek chucked down the lift shaft in Dr.WHO & THE DALEKS.
It obviously wasn't as it looked like one cobbled together from the notorious Radio Times special plans. I think a bit of wool was pulled over the WHO Shop owners' eyes when they bought this prop in good faith
many years ago.

That's fascinating, thank you. After all this time its great to know where that thing originated.

Looking at the picture of the Who Shop Tardis it actually reminds me of the 1996 tv movie tardis. The roof stacking, sign boxes, doors and the base. There are some similiarities there and I actually saw this box in person last time I was at the who shop which must have been around 1997 long time ago. Time for another visit I think.

Anybody like to comment on this, TARDIS wise? Looks like tosh to me.

Anyone with a copy of the two movies who also have a pair of eyes will be able to draw their own conclusions.

If anyone feels the need to comment on this, let's keep it civil please. Recently I've been dragged into a similar argument and slagged off, despite the fact I had nothing to do with it in the first place.  I could say more, but won't.

Cheers all.

Purp, I know exactly what you're refering to and I'm sure knowbody wants to go down that road. A horrible case of mistaken identity!!

As you said people can draw their own conclusions from the evidence.

Enough said from me on this one. :-X

I'm no expert, but, um, I'm disinclined to believe it's entirely accurate - and that's putting it mildly.
My pilot's license? That's out back in the Cessna. Or perhaps you're referring to my license to kill. Revoked. Trouble at the Kazakhstan border.

I could give you the details but then I'd have to kill you, which I can't do because my license to kill has been revoked.

I supose the most obvious difference is that the movie Tardis door opened outwards.
This opens inwards...

I remember her!

I suppose it *COULD* have been repainted...
In the cities in the streets there's a tension you can feel,
The breaking strain is fast approaching, guns and riots.
Politicians gamble and lie to save their skins,
And the press get fed the scapegoats,
Public Enema Number One.

...after being painstakingly superglued back together from the matchwood it was in after meeting it's end in an episode of "The New Avengers"?

I guess there's a very slight chance that there's a tiny possibility that it's theoretically feasable that this may not be the Cushing box, but as TARDISes go, it certainly doesn't look like a bad one.

Can we assume the TARDIS in the pic is actually the one referred to in the article? It doesn't really make this clear...

I got to know Alex when she opened her first Who Shop in Wapping (mid 80's?), and that was when I saw her TARDIS in the flesh. She told me then that it was the Cushing movie prop, but had been in a terrible state when she got it. During the repair she decided to rehang the doors and make then open inwards.

It's been repaired and repainted numerous times since then, but remains in a perilous state. It's still on display in the shop (now in East Ham), but plastered with "Do Not Touch!" signs! It's worth a visit.

As to its authenticity, my Jury's still out.  ???

When i was at the who shop 5 years ago Alex told me it was the cushing box but i certainly did not believe her and she also told me that she had another police box prop in storage.
But it was just a police box !
